Richard Hulbert is chairman of an international architecture and planning practice with its head office in West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. For the past 20 years The Hulbert Group has been active in the resort industry, which is one facet of their international planning and design expertise, and Richard has worked on resort projects throughout Canada, the United States, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
Mr. Hulbert has planned and designed some of the most comprehensive and innovative purpose-built timeshare resorts in the world. He has been retained to provide Timeshare product designs for Marriott Ownership Resorts Inc., for International Resort Group Inc., for Shell Vacatiions LLC, and for Welk Resorts. Current projects include Timeshare Developments in the US, Mexico, and Canada.
Another one of The Hulbert Group’s specialties has been mixed-use, multi-phased, comprehensively planned and designed Resort Communities. Their flag-ship project includes the internationally acclaimed Sanctuary Cove Resort, a $600 million mixed-use waterfront development in Queensland, Australia. This resort was recognized by the Australian Tourism Industry as Australia’s Best Resort.
Richard was the lead architect for the master planning of Pacific Place, a 2 billion dollar mixed-use waterfront development on a former 160-acre brownfield site in Vancouver, BC, Canada. This project was judged the Pacific Rim's finest new community development at the annual international building design and planning awards competition held by the Pacific Coast Builders Conference in San Francisco.
Mr. Hulbert's contributions have been consistently recognized by the architectural profession, the public sector and the development industry. Richard has won design awards or had his works and writings published each and every year for the past 33 years.
